Chiropractic Board Passes Proposed Rule To Use
Thursday, November 22nd, 2007Santa Fe—The New Mexico Board of Chiropractic Examiners today announced that it has passed the proposed rule to use chiropractic acupuncture/meridian therapy within their practice.
At the end of today’s meeting, the Board also motioned to delay filing of the adopted rule by 90 days. The Board plans to meet with the Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the Oriental Medicine Association of New Mexico to further discuss the adopted rule change 16.4.18.9B.
After the 90-day period has expired the Board is expected to file the adopted rule, which will become effective after a 30-day period.
The adopted section of rule 16.4.18.9B is as follows:
Chiropractors who practice Chiropractic Acupuncture/Meridian Therapy shall use those specific terms, and shall not advertise or promote themselves publicly to be Doctors of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncturists or Doctors of Acupuncture, unless also licensed pursuant to the
Acupuncture Act 61-14A-1 – 61-14A-22.
