Ephedra: Victory for Acupuncturists

A three month long legislative battle in Suffolk County, New York ended December 18th. The legislature had been considering banning all ephedra sales. Ephedra is an important natural remedy for coughing and wheezing. It is best used as part of herbal formulas prescribed by licensed trained acupuncturists (who are also herbalists). Ephedra has gotten quite a bit of negative press because it is often misused as a stimulant. (more…)
California is Still a Safe Place for its Acupuncturists
Thursday, November 22nd, 2007This has been a particularly tough year for California’s 11,000 licensed acupuncturists. They had to wage a months-long legislation battle in Sacramento over the fate of the California Acupuncture Board, amid charges that the body was not regulating the profession properly.
Although the bill was amended to keep the board, board seats remain unfilled. (more…)
